Case Study
HDMI Distribution system - 5 bed house Reading, Berkshire
Nov, 2017
At Iains house a brand new property the developer has prewired with Category 6 cables back to the under stairs cupboard – our scope was to distribute 4 HD sources to 8 rooms around the house. We selected a 4x8 matrix suitable for resolutions of 1080p and 3D.
Source List:
- SKY BOX
- Blueray DVD
- PS3
- Google TV
1st job was to design the layout under the stairs – it’s very tight in there so we decided to flat mount the matrix on the wall and use a piece of trunking behind to neatly manage all the incoming and outgoing cables. This proved to work very well and allowed the equipment to site unobtrusively.
All of the sources were mounted on a shelf next to the piece of trunking and all HDMI connections fed across to the matrix.
As part of fitting the sources we needed to relocate the sky box and satellite feeds from the front room, this involved relocating the dish to a more subtle position and re-cabling the feeds to the box. We also connected the sky box to the Broadband router so all of the sky on demand services were available.
We found the BT engineer had connected the connection into the house incorrectly as well so we sorted this out as well to get maximum speed and reliability.
Playstation 3 – we fitted the PS3 into the cupboard as well and found the Bluetooth to work all through the ground and first floor without issue – so gaming could happen on every TV and players could view the screen in any room while playing in separate rooms.
We wall mounted 4 TV’s in the Property on the ultra slim picture hook type hangers.
