Case Study
West London Fibre optic cabling installation, termination & testing
Oct, 2016
This Summer 2016 the Picadilly underpass in Westminister has been refurbished, we completed the installation, termination & testing of Multimode Fibre optic cables on behalf of the main contractor FM Conway.
The Optical cables are used for network connectivity that support the advertising big screens.
Our scope of works was also to supply & install weatherproof enclosures on each gantry, as well as a secure roadside cabinet. Each of these locations houses fibre optic terminations; communication and Audio visual equipment .
The installation of the cables was at high level along the full length of the underpass around 350m, so required our engineers to drive a mobile platform in order to reach the cable pathway. At each end of the tunnel we installed new metal galvanised cable containment trunking which connects to the secure weatherproof network enclosures on the gantrys.
As part of our scope we also ordered the BT Openreach Broadband circuits on behalf of Westminister Council and had these provided for WAN connectivity.
